What is a Skin Biopsy?
- A tissue sample sent for pathological examination under a microscope
- Used to diagnose or rule out skin diseases including skin cancer

Biopsy Types
- Shave biopsy: superficial sample, usually no stitches needed
- Punch biopsy: deeper round sample, may need one stitch
- Excisional biopsy: complete removal, closed with stitches
- Method chosen based on size, location and clinical suspicion

Possible Outcomes
Based on the pathology results, it will be determined whether complete excision, additional treatment, or monitoring only is needed. A small scar may remain at the biopsy site.
