After Filler Injections
What to expect and how to care for yourself after hyaluronic acid or biostimulator injections.
First 48 Hours
- Apply ice packs in 10-15 minute intervals to reduce swelling
- Swelling peaks at 24-48 hours - this is normal, especially with lip fillers
- Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated
What to Avoid
- Strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours
- Alcohol for 24 hours
- Extreme heat or cold (sauna, steam room) for 2 weeks
- Dental procedures for 2 weeks
- Facial massages for 2 weeks
- Flying for 24-48 hours (optional - pressure changes may worsen swelling)
Results & Recovery
- HA fillers: immediate results, final appearance once swelling resolves (1-2 weeks)
- Biostimulators: gradual improvement over 2-6 months
- Mild bruising is common and resolves within 5-10 days
- Small lumps may be felt initially - most resolve as swelling decreases
Emergency Signs - Contact Immediately
If you experience severe pain, white or dusky discoloration, or vision changes after filler injection, contact us immediately. These may indicate vascular occlusion which requires urgent treatment.
